A very very small portion of my pen collection. |
I have been a pen-enthusiast since birth. Yep, I was born this way. I hardly ever meet a pen that I do not like. Sounds weird huh? But it's the truth and I don't mind telling the truth.
I am sure I have accumulated over 500 pens since 1995 but the oldest pen I currently have is probably about 15 years old. I realized that I loved pens since High School - where I developed a healthy appreciation for penmanship and projects. Back then, most projects were done by hand so neat handwriting was sought after. My collection started to grow rapidly as I went up by grade and the projects increased. My collection quickly included markers, pens, pencils, crayons, rulers, coloured paper (ruled and unruled), printed stationery and rubbers. I remembered coloured ink pens and Lisa Frank ststaionery being my most prized possessions. To date, I believe I still have a stash of Lisa Frank items.
My love for multi-coloured pens also increased because I had a lot of penpals and joined a lot of fan clubs. Lisa Frank, Mariah Carey and NSync (which was yesteryear's ultimate boy's group) were some of the fan clubs that I was a regular member of.
I would use all of my pens almost everyday. Hence, appetite for new additions quickly grew and I sought to satiate that appetite with every chance that I got. Unfortunately or not, this habit of pen-seeking, pen-buying, pen-trying has not stopped. Fortunately, pens are a cheap addiction to have if you are a TRUE pen lover. The same might not ring true if you are a brand-name, high-end pen lover as pens can go for up to US$1,000.00 or more - especially fountain pens.
All in all, my pen-buying has slowed down somewhat. Perhaps I don't have enough time to seek and buy pens or I am impatient to wait for online websites send my pens all the way to the Caribbean.
Until next time......tooodles :)
